60 cu ft Steel Argon Cylinder

New 60 cu ft steel argon cylinder with a new installed CGA580 valve. This mid-sized tank offers great capacity and even greater durability. Perfect for any mixed inert gas application.

Steel also holds pressure longer than it’s aluminum counterpart and lasts longer before needing testing.  This cylinder sports thick-walled construction and a tough rust-stop painted exterior.

Argon is the most common shielding gas, widely used as the base for the more specialized gas mixes.

Premium Construction

  • Due to varying manufacturers, cylinders may or may not contain a threaded neck style. Caps for cylinders with a threaded neck style can be purchased here. Fine Thread Steel Cylinder Cap
  • If you require a specific neck style, please reach out so we can confirm the current inventory style.
  • The current inventory color may vary: Cranberry or Black.
  • Durable steel construction.
  • Thick-painted walls.

Fast Shipping

Gas Cylinder Source knows you need your product now, which is why we offer super-fast shipping and even have an express option. We also recognize shipping charges can play a significant role in a purchase, and that is why we do everything we can to keep shipping rates as low as possible. We do not inflate the price of our products as a mask for free shipping offers. Our product prices are set at the best pricing we can offer, and the amount charged for shipping covers the shipping and delivery of your order. We believe this transparency in costs is the best way to keep you well-informed while receiving the best price available.

Calculate Your Shipping
You can calculate your shipping charge in just a few quick steps:

  • Add your desired product(s) to the shopping cart.
  • Navigate to the Shopping Cart page.
  • Click the "Calculate Shipping" link in the cart totals section and enter your Country, State, City, & Zip Code, then select the 'Update' button.

Residential vs Commercial Address
Initial shipping charges calculated in the Shopping Cart are figured using a residential shipping rate unless you have previously entered a commercial address in the ship-to field during a previous checkout session. Deliveries to a commercial address are typically cheaper than deliveries to a residential address and will be reflected on the checkout page once the full address has been entered and the system confirms it is a commercial address.

LTL Freight Shipments
For larger freight or custom orders, we ask you to allow for a 7-10 business day lead time for product preparation and shipping set up. A customer service representative may reach out to you requesting additional information such as liftgate needs, receiving hours, or other order details. Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking information. LTL Freight Costs will be calculated on the day of shipment and may vary from your initial estimate, resulting in additional charges.

Time to Ship
Product is shipped from Minnesota. Transport time is usually between 1 and 5 days. Orders typically ship out the following business day after the order has been placed. Larger orders, and especially those going via a contracted freight service, may take additional time.

Order Tracking
Once your order has been shipped, an email will be sent to you with tracking details as well as a link you can use to track your shipment and find estimated delivery information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

▼ How tall is a 60 cf argon tank, and is it portable?

A 60 cf steel argon tank stands about 22.5 inches tall on its own, or roughly 28 inches with the valve, and 7 inches in diameter. At around 29 pounds empty it is easy to carry and secure in a shop or vehicle. This mid-size sits between the compact 40 cf bottle and the taller 80 cf and 125 cf cylinders.

▼ How long does a 60 cf argon tank last while welding?

At a typical shielding gas flow of 20 to 25 CFH, a 60 cf argon tank gives roughly 2.5 to 3 hours of arc time. Heavier MIG work or drafty conditions use gas faster, while light TIG passes stretch it further. If you weld often, an 80 cf or 125 cf tank reduces how frequently you refill.

▼ Which argon tank size should I choose, and where does 60 cf fit?

Owned argon cylinders run from 20 cf and 40 cf bottles up through 60 cf, 80 cf, and 125 cf sizes. At 60 cf, this tank is a middle option for shop welders who want more capacity than a small bottle without the height of the largest cylinders. Match the size to how often you weld and how far you travel to refill.

▼ Can I run an argon CO2 mix in this 60 cf cylinder for MIG?

Yes, this cylinder is rated for inert and mixed gases, so a supplier can fill it with a MIG blend such as 75 percent argon and 25 percent CO2 for steel. The cylinder does not set the blend, so tell the gas supplier the exact mix your MIG welder needs. Pure argon stays the choice for TIG and for MIG on aluminum.

▼ What regulator connection does a 60 cf argon cylinder use?

This argon cylinder uses a CGA580 valve outlet with a 3/4 inch NGT thread, the standard inert-gas connection. A CGA580 argon or MIG flowmeter threads directly on, so most existing welding regulators fit. Confirm your regulator is CGA580 before the first fill.

▼ What is the difference between a 60 cf and an 80 cf argon cylinder?

The difference is capacity and height: the 80 cf holds more gas for longer welding runs, while the 60 cf is a little shorter and lighter for easier handling. Both use the same CGA580 connection, so one regulator fits either. Choose 60 cf for a lighter tank and 80 cf or more if you want fewer refills.

▼ Do I own this argon cylinder, or is it a rental?

You own this cylinder outright once purchased, with no rental contract or recurring fees. Ownership lets you refill or exchange it at any qualified gas supplier and keeps long-term cost below renting. Keep your purchase and hydro-test records to prove ownership at exchange.

▼ How much does it cost to refill a 60 cf argon tank?

The purchase price is shown on this page, and refill cost is set by your local gas supplier and varies by region and gas purity. Because you own the cylinder, you can compare refill prices between welding suppliers rather than paying rental fees. Owners usually find the per-fill cost drops over time versus renting a bottle.

▼ When does a steel argon cylinder need requalification?

A high-pressure steel argon cylinder must be hydrostatically requalified on a set DOT interval, and the last test date is stamped into the collar. A qualified supplier checks that date at every fill and will requalify or decline an out-of-date cylinder. Buying new starts the clock fresh, so the next requalification is years away.

▼ Does the argon tank arrive filled and ready to weld?

No, all cylinders ship empty for transport safety, so this tank must be filled before first use. Take it to a welding gas supplier that can provide argon or your chosen mix and fill to the marked service pressure. Once filled and fitted with a CGA580 regulator, it is ready for the welder.
