Recertified 60 cu ft. Steel Nitrogen Cylinder

Recertified 60 cu ft. steel nitrogen cylinder with new installed CGA580 valve. Great for CO2 nitrogen mix, helium, argon, and other inert gases. This is the perfect ‘in-between’ size for so many applications.

Steel also holds pressure longer than it’s aluminum counterpart and lasts longer before needing testing.  this cylinder sports thick-walled construction and a tough rust-stop painted exterior.

Nitrogen can be used in HVAC applications for purging refrigerant lines and completing scale-free brazing jobs. Inert gases can be used for purging refrigerant from tubing, flowing and preventing oxidation while brazing, and pressurizing a system for leak detection or a coolant / cooling system pressure test. You’ll also find nitrogen useful for getting oil out of the way before pulling a vacuum.

Overall, you can use nitrogen for applications where you’d usually use compressed air. Anytime you work with any kind of inert gas, you need a flow meter and regulator; as opposed to a standard gauge manifold.

Gas blends containing nitrogen can increase the mechanical properties of alloys containing nitrogen and prevent pitting corrosion in welding applications.

Please note, this may come with or without a threaded neck and/or coke bottom style due to varying manufacturers.

Fast Shipping

Gas Cylinder Source knows you need your product now, which is why we offer super-fast shipping and even have an express option. We also recognize shipping charges can play a significant role in a purchase, and that is why we do everything we can to keep shipping rates as low as possible. We do not inflate the price of our products as a mask for free shipping offers. Our product prices are set at the best pricing we can offer, and the amount charged for shipping covers the shipping and delivery of your order. We believe this transparency in costs is the best way to keep you well-informed while receiving the best price available.

Calculate Your Shipping
You can calculate your shipping charge in just a few quick steps:

  • Add your desired product(s) to the shopping cart.
  • Navigate to the Shopping Cart page.
  • Click the "Calculate Shipping" link in the cart totals section and enter your Country, State, City, & Zip Code, then select the 'Update' button.

Residential vs Commercial Address
Initial shipping charges calculated in the Shopping Cart are figured using a residential shipping rate unless you have previously entered a commercial address in the ship-to field during a previous checkout session. Deliveries to a commercial address are typically cheaper than deliveries to a residential address and will be reflected on the checkout page once the full address has been entered and the system confirms it is a commercial address.

LTL Freight Shipments
For larger freight or custom orders, we ask you to allow for a 7-10 business day lead time for product preparation and shipping set up. A customer service representative may reach out to you requesting additional information such as liftgate needs, receiving hours, or other order details. Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking information. LTL Freight Costs will be calculated on the day of shipment and may vary from your initial estimate, resulting in additional charges.

Time to Ship
Product is shipped from Minnesota. Transport time is usually between 1 and 5 days. Orders typically ship out the following business day after the order has been placed. Larger orders, and especially those going via a contracted freight service, may take additional time.

Order Tracking
Once your order has been shipped, an email will be sent to you with tracking details as well as a link you can use to track your shipment and find estimated delivery information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

▼ What does "recertified" mean on a nitrogen cylinder?

A recertified cylinder is a used cylinder that has been inspected and hydrostatically retested by a DOT-authorized facility and passed, then returned to service with a fresh test date stamped on the collar. It is not a repaired or second-quality cylinder; it either passes the test or it is scrapped. The practical difference from new is cost and cosmetic finish, not safety.

▼ Is a recertified nitrogen cylinder as safe as a new one?

Yes, when it carries a current requalification stamp. That stamp is the same standard a new cylinder must meet, and gas suppliers apply the same check to both before filling. The test date on the collar is what matters, not the age of the cylinder.

▼ What are the dimensions of a 60 cu ft nitrogen tank?

Height, diameter and empty weight for this cylinder are listed in the specifications on this page. As a class, 60 cubic feet is a mid-size bottle: taller than a 20 cu ft, and still movable by one person. Check the listed height if it needs to fit a cabinet, a cart or a service vehicle.

▼ What is a 60 cu ft nitrogen cylinder used for?

Common uses are HVAC pressure testing and line purging, brazing purge, laboratory and industrial nitrogen supply, and beverage applications such as nitro coffee where a mid-size bottle suits the draw rate. Dry nitrogen is chosen because it displaces oxygen and moisture without introducing either. The right size depends on how continuous the draw is.

▼ What valve does this nitrogen cylinder use, and what regulator fits?

It comes with a CGA580 valve, the standard inert-gas connection shared with argon and helium. A CGA580 nitrogen regulator threads on directly. For HVAC pressure testing choose a high-pressure nitrogen regulator that reaches your required test pressure, rather than a low-pressure flowmeter.

▼ Can this cylinder be used for argon or helium as well as nitrogen?

The CGA580 connection is shared across inert gases, and suppliers do fill inert-service cylinders with argon, nitrogen or helium. Confirm with your filler before switching a cylinder’s gas service, since some suppliers keep cylinders dedicated to one gas and purity requirements differ by application.

▼ How long does a 60 cu ft nitrogen tank last?

It depends entirely on the task. A series of HVAC pressure tests uses very little gas per test, so a 60 cu ft bottle can cover many jobs, while continuous purging or a beverage application with steady draw depletes it far faster. Watch the regulator gauge and refill before it approaches empty.

▼ Does the nitrogen cylinder arrive filled?

No. All cylinders ship empty for transport safety and must be filled before use. Any welding or industrial gas supplier can fill it with nitrogen to the marked service pressure. Specify the purity grade if your application requires one.

▼ Do I own this nitrogen cylinder or is it a rental?

You own it outright, with no rental contract and no recurring fees. Ownership is the main reason to buy a recertified cylinder: it removes ongoing rental charges at a lower entry cost than a new bottle. Keep the purchase record and the test date to prove ownership at exchange.

▼ Can my local gas supplier refill a recertified cylinder?

Yes. Suppliers fill on the strength of the current requalification stamp, not on whether the cylinder is new. They will read the collar date and refuse any cylinder, new or recertified, that is out of date.

▼ When will this cylinder next need requalification?

High-pressure steel cylinders are requalified on a set DOT interval from the last test date stamped on the collar. Because this cylinder has just been recertified, it enters service with a current date and a full interval ahead of it. Check the stamp when it arrives so you know the date.

▼ How does a 60 cu ft nitrogen cylinder compare to 20 cu ft and 125 cu ft?

The 20 cu ft is the portable service-call size, the 125 cu ft is a shop bottle that cuts refill frequency, and the 60 cu ft sits between them. All three share the CGA580 connection, so a single regulator serves any of them. Pick on how far the bottle must travel against how often you want to refill it.
