Fast Shipping

Gas Cylinder Source knows you need your product now, which is why we offer super-fast shipping and even have an express option. We also recognize shipping charges can play a significant role in a purchase, and that is why we do everything we can to keep shipping rates as low as possible. We do not inflate the price of our products as a mask for free shipping offers. Our product prices are set at the best pricing we can offer, and the amount charged for shipping covers the shipping and delivery of your order. We believe this transparency in costs is the best way to keep you well-informed while receiving the best price available.

Calculate Your Shipping
You can calculate your shipping charge in just a few quick steps:

  • Add your desired product(s) to the shopping cart.
  • Navigate to the Shopping Cart page.
  • Click the "Calculate Shipping" link in the cart totals section and enter your Country, State, City, & Zip Code, then select the 'Update' button.

Residential vs Commercial Address
Initial shipping charges calculated in the Shopping Cart are figured using a residential shipping rate unless you have previously entered a commercial address in the ship-to field during a previous checkout session. Deliveries to a commercial address are typically cheaper than deliveries to a residential address and will be reflected on the checkout page once the full address has been entered and the system confirms it is a commercial address.

LTL Freight Shipments
For larger freight or custom orders, we ask you to allow for a 7-10 business day lead time for product preparation and shipping set up. A customer service representative may reach out to you requesting additional information such as liftgate needs, receiving hours, or other order details. Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking information. LTL Freight Costs will be calculated on the day of shipment and may vary from your initial estimate, resulting in additional charges.

Time to Ship
Product is shipped from Minnesota. Transport time is usually between 1 and 5 days. Orders typically ship out the following business day after the order has been placed. Larger orders, and especially those going via a contracted freight service, may take additional time.

Order Tracking
Once your order has been shipped, an email will be sent to you with tracking details as well as a link you can use to track your shipment and find estimated delivery information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

▼ How tall is an 80 cf argon tank, and will it fit under a bench or in a car?

An 80 cf steel argon tank stands about 33 inches tall and 7 inches in diameter, short enough to fit under a workbench or upright in a trunk or van. Its lower height and 47 pound empty weight make it more portable than a 125 cf cylinder while still holding plenty of shielding gas. This size suits welders who move their argon tank between jobs or store it in tight spaces.

▼ How long does an 80 cf argon tank last while welding?

At a typical shielding gas flow of 20 to 25 CFH, an 80 cf argon tank gives roughly 3 to 4 hours of arc time. Heavier MIG work or drafty conditions use gas faster, while light TIG passes extend it. If you weld often, compare this against a 125 cf tank to judge how frequently you want to refill.

▼ Is an 80 cf argon tank big enough for a home or hobby welder?

For a home shop or hobby welder, an 80 cf argon tank is usually a good fit, giving a solid run of arc time without the weight of larger cylinders. Occasional welders may choose a smaller 40 cf bottle, while daily users often prefer 125 cf or more to reduce refill trips. Matching tank size to how often you weld keeps handling easy.

▼ How much does it cost to refill or buy an 80 cf argon tank?

The purchase price is shown on this page, and refill cost is set by your local gas supplier and varies by region and gas purity. Because you own the cylinder outright, you can compare refill prices between welding suppliers instead of paying rental fees. Owners typically find the cost per fill drops over time versus renting a bottle.

▼ Can I run a 75/25 argon CO2 mix in this cylinder for MIG welding?

Yes, this cylinder is rated for inert and mixed gases, so a supplier can fill it with a MIG blend such as 75 percent argon and 25 percent CO2 for steel. The cylinder does not set the blend, so specify the mix your MIG welder needs at refill. Pure argon remains the choice for TIG and for MIG on aluminum.

▼ What is the difference between an 80 cf and a 125 cf argon cylinder?

The main differences are capacity, height, and weight: the 80 cf argon cylinder is shorter and lighter for easier handling, while a 125 cf holds more gas for longer runs between refills. Both use the same CGA580 connection, so one regulator fits either. Choose 80 cf for portability and 125 cf for fewer refills.

▼ What regulator or flowmeter fits an 80 cf argon cylinder?

This argon cylinder uses a CGA580 valve outlet with a 3/4 inch NGT thread, the standard inert-gas connection. A CGA580 argon or MIG flowmeter threads directly on, so most existing welding regulators fit without an adapter. Confirm your regulator is CGA580 before the first fill.

▼ Do I own this argon cylinder, or is it a supplier rental?

You own this cylinder outright once purchased, with no rental contract or recurring fees. Ownership lets you refill or exchange it at any qualified gas supplier and keeps long-term cost below renting. Keep your purchase and hydro-test records to prove ownership at exchange.

▼ When does an 80 cf steel argon cylinder need requalification?

A high-pressure steel argon cylinder must be hydrostatically requalified on a set DOT interval, and the last test date is stamped into the collar. A qualified supplier checks that date at every fill and will requalify or decline an out-of-date cylinder. Buying new starts the clock fresh, so the next requalification is years away.

▼ Does the 80 cf argon tank arrive filled and ready to weld?

No, all cylinders ship empty for transport safety, so this tank must be filled before first use. Take it to a welding gas supplier that can provide argon or your chosen mix and fill to the marked service pressure. Once filled and fitted with a CGA580 regulator, it is ready for the welder.
