New 60 cu ft. Steel Inert Gas Cylinder

Great for Nitrogen, Argon, Mix Gas, Helium, and Inert Gases that use a CGA580 valve

New 60 cu ft. steel cylinder with a new installed CGA580 valve, includes Cap and Collar. This perfectly sized tank offers great capacity and even greater durability.

Steel also holds pressure longer than it’s aluminum counterpart and lasts longer before needing testing.  This cylinder sports thick-walled construction and a tough rust-stop painted exterior.

Anytime you work with any kind of inert gas, you need a flow meter and regulator; as opposed to a standard gauge manifold.

Premium Construction

  • Durable steel construction.
  • Thick painted walls.
  • Current inventory color is Black, but color may vary.

Quality Features

  • 7″ diameter x approximately 28.5″ height (with valve)
    • Note: due to differences between manufacturers, cylinder height may vary by +/- several inches
  • DOT approved
  • Certified or hydro-tested within 12 months
  • New CGA580 valve
  • 3/4″ NGT inlet thread

Fast Shipping

Gas Cylinder Source knows you need your product now, which is why we offer super-fast shipping and even have an express option. We also recognize shipping charges can play a significant role in a purchase, and that is why we do everything we can to keep shipping rates as low as possible. We do not inflate the price of our products as a mask for free shipping offers. Our product prices are set at the best pricing we can offer, and the amount charged for shipping covers the shipping and delivery of your order. We believe this transparency in costs is the best way to keep you well-informed while receiving the best price available.

Calculate Your Shipping
You can calculate your shipping charge in just a few quick steps:

  • Add your desired product(s) to the shopping cart.
  • Navigate to the Shopping Cart page.
  • Click the "Calculate Shipping" link in the cart totals section and enter your Country, State, City, & Zip Code, then select the 'Update' button.

Residential vs Commercial Address
Initial shipping charges calculated in the Shopping Cart are figured using a residential shipping rate unless you have previously entered a commercial address in the ship-to field during a previous checkout session. Deliveries to a commercial address are typically cheaper than deliveries to a residential address and will be reflected on the checkout page once the full address has been entered and the system confirms it is a commercial address.

LTL Freight Shipments
For larger freight or custom orders, we ask you to allow for a 7-10 business day lead time for product preparation and shipping set up. A customer service representative may reach out to you requesting additional information such as liftgate needs, receiving hours, or other order details. Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking information. LTL Freight Costs will be calculated on the day of shipment and may vary from your initial estimate, resulting in additional charges.

Time to Ship
Product is shipped from Minnesota. Transport time is usually between 1 and 5 days. Orders typically ship out the following business day after the order has been placed. Larger orders, and especially those going via a contracted freight service, may take additional time.

Order Tracking
Once your order has been shipped, an email will be sent to you with tracking details as well as a link you can use to track your shipment and find estimated delivery information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

▼ What is a 60 cu ft nitrogen tank used for?

The 60 cf size covers HVAC pressure testing and brazing purges, beverage and nitro coffee dispensing, laboratory supply, tyre or shock filling and more. It is a middle size chosen when a 20 or 23 cf cylinder runs out too often but a full shop bottle is too heavy to move. The gas is the same in every size.

▼ How long does a 60 cf nitrogen cylinder last?

Run time depends entirely on flow rate and whether the gas is used for intermittent testing or continuous purging. Pressure testing consumes very little and can stretch a 60 cf cylinder across many service calls, while continuous purging empties it in hours. Setting the regulator no higher than the job requires is the main way to extend it.

▼ Can this nitrogen cylinder also hold argon or helium?

Yes. The CGA580 valve is the standard inert gas connection, so the same cylinder can be refilled with nitrogen, argon, helium, or an inert mix. Specify the gas when arranging the refill; no change to the cylinder is needed.

▼ Is this cylinder the right size for HVAC brazing?

It is a common choice for HVAC technicians who want fewer refill trips than a 20 cf cylinder allows while still being able to move the bottle between jobs. Technicians working from a fixed van setup often go larger. A high-pressure regulator is required for pressure testing, which is separate from the cylinder choice.

▼ What regulator is needed for a nitrogen tank?

A regulator with a CGA580 inlet is required, and it must be rated for the delivery pressure the job needs. HVAC pressure testing calls for a high-pressure regulator, while beverage and purging applications use a low-pressure one. The regulator is not included.

▼ Is nitrogen the same as compressed air?

No. Compressed air contains oxygen and moisture, both of which cause oxidation and contamination in brazing, food, and laboratory applications. Nitrogen is dry and inert, which is exactly why it is used to purge lines and pressurise systems where air would cause damage.

▼ Where can a 60 cf nitrogen cylinder be refilled?

Welding gas suppliers and industrial gas distributors refill nitrogen cylinders, and because this one is bought outright rather than leased it can be taken to any of them. There are no rental or demurrage charges on an owned cylinder.

▼ Is nitrogen safe to use indoors?

Nitrogen is inert, non-toxic, and non-flammable, but it displaces oxygen, so a large release in a small unventilated space creates an asphyxiation hazard. Normal indoor use with ventilation is routine and safe. Never use nitrogen or any compressed gas to clear dust from clothing or in a confined space.

▼ Does the nitrogen tank ship filled?

No, it ships empty with the CGA580 valve installed. Hazardous materials rules prevent compressed gas moving by standard carrier, so the first fill happens at a local supplier.

▼ What is the difference between a 60 cf and a 40 cf nitrogen cylinder?

The 60 cf holds half again as much gas for a modest increase in height and weight, so it is refilled less often while remaining movable. The 40 cf is slightly easier to handle and store. Neither affects gas quality or delivery pressure, which are set by the regulator.
