New 300 cu ft Steel Oxygen Cylinder with CGA540 valve installed

This is the largest 300 cu ft steel oxygen cylinder tank we carry and it’s big on working hard and saving you time and money. This big boy boasts durable, thick steel walls painted with standard oxygen green rust-resistant paint to keep this tank going for the long haul. Fresh certification guaranteed to be within the last 12 months.

So many applications; oxygen filling systems, therapeutic purposes, metals industry, and welding industry.

Oxygen is used in small amounts as an addition to other gases in welding applications; typically, as 2-5% addition to argon. It enhances arc stability and reduces the surface tension of the molten metal, increasing wetting of the solid metal.

Premium Construction

  • Durable steel construction.
  • Thick, rust stop painted walls.
  • High-quality valve installed.

Quality Features

  • 9.5″ diameter x 60.75″ height (with valve) Note: due to differences between manufacturers, cylinder height may vary slightly.
  • DOT approved
  • Certified or hydro-tested within 12 months
  • New CGA540 valve
  •  126 lb. tare weight
  • Common letter designation (please refer to cubic feet): R
  • Applications: Industrial, Medical, Welding
  • Steel Cap and Collar
  • Ships empty
  • Cylinder color may be green, gray or maroon.

All cylinders ship empty. Doctor’s prescription required to fill with medical oxygen. Seek the advice of a physician if you have questions about the proper use of medical oxygen. Please be sure to use a regulator that fits the cylinder valve, and that is correct for your application of use.

Find this oxygen and other top-quality oxygen tanks on the Oxygen cylinder page.

Fast Shipping

Gas Cylinder Source knows you need your product now, which is why we offer super-fast shipping and even have an express option. We also recognize shipping charges can play a significant role in a purchase, and that is why we do everything we can to keep shipping rates as low as possible. We do not inflate the price of our products as a mask for free shipping offers. Our product prices are set at the best pricing we can offer, and the amount charged for shipping covers the shipping and delivery of your order. We believe this transparency in costs is the best way to keep you well-informed while receiving the best price available.

Calculate Your Shipping
You can calculate your shipping charge in just a few quick steps:

  • Add your desired product(s) to the shopping cart.
  • Navigate to the Shopping Cart page.
  • Click the "Calculate Shipping" link in the cart totals section and enter your Country, State, City, & Zip Code, then select the 'Update' button.

Residential vs Commercial Address
Initial shipping charges calculated in the Shopping Cart are figured using a residential shipping rate unless you have previously entered a commercial address in the ship-to field during a previous checkout session. Deliveries to a commercial address are typically cheaper than deliveries to a residential address and will be reflected on the checkout page once the full address has been entered and the system confirms it is a commercial address.

LTL Freight Shipments
For larger freight or custom orders, we ask you to allow for a 7-10 business day lead time for product preparation and shipping set up. A customer service representative may reach out to you requesting additional information such as liftgate needs, receiving hours, or other order details. Once your order has shipped, you will receive tracking information. LTL Freight Costs will be calculated on the day of shipment and may vary from your initial estimate, resulting in additional charges.

Time to Ship
Product is shipped from Minnesota. Transport time is usually between 1 and 5 days. Orders typically ship out the following business day after the order has been placed. Larger orders, and especially those going via a contracted freight service, may take additional time.

Order Tracking
Once your order has been shipped, an email will be sent to you with tracking details as well as a link you can use to track your shipment and find estimated delivery information.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

▼ How much does a 300 cf oxygen cylinder weigh?

A full-height 300 cf steel oxygen cylinder is a heavy shop bottle that should be moved on a cylinder cart rather than lifted. Steel cylinders weigh substantially more than aluminium ones of the same capacity, and the gas itself adds comparatively little. Anyone needing to lift or carry the cylinder should choose a smaller size.

▼ What oxygen cylinder sizes are available?

Oxygen cylinders are commonly sold in 20, 40, 80, 125, 250, and 300 cubic foot sizes, with 300 cf the largest standard industrial size. The number refers to the cubic feet of gas the cylinder holds at full pressure, not its physical dimensions. Choosing a size is a trade between refill frequency and portability.

▼ Is this oxygen cylinder suitable for medical or breathing use?

No. This is an industrial oxygen cylinder sold empty for cutting, brazing, and industrial applications. Medical oxygen is a prescription product that must be filled by a licensed facility, and breathing gas for diving or SCBA has separate purity and equipment requirements.

▼ How long does a 300 cf oxygen tank last for cutting?

Run time depends entirely on torch tip size and cutting thickness, and oxygen is consumed far faster than acetylene during cutting. A 300 cf cylinder is chosen precisely because smaller bottles empty quickly on a cutting torch. Pairing it with a correctly sized acetylene cylinder avoids running out of one gas well before the other.

▼ What is the correct oxygen to acetylene ratio for a cutting setup?

Oxygen is consumed much faster than acetylene in cutting work, so an oxygen cylinder is normally paired with an acetylene cylinder of smaller capacity. Matching a large oxygen bottle to an undersized acetylene bottle, or the reverse, means one runs dry long before the other. Suppliers can advise the pairing for a specific torch and tip.

▼ What regulator fits a 300 cf oxygen cylinder?

It requires a regulator with a CGA540 inlet, the standard connection for industrial oxygen in the United States. The regulator is not included and must be rated for oxygen service. Never fit a regulator intended for fuel gas or inert gas to an oxygen cylinder.

▼ Why must oxygen equipment be kept free of oil and grease?

Oxygen dramatically accelerates combustion, and oil or grease in contact with high-pressure oxygen can ignite violently without any spark. Valves, regulators, hands, gloves, and threads must be kept clean and free of petroleum products. This is the single most important safety rule specific to oxygen and does not apply to inert gases.

▼ Is it better to own or lease an oxygen cylinder?

Owning removes the monthly rental or demurrage charge that applies to a leased cylinder whether or not it is used, and allows refilling at whichever supplier is most convenient. Leasing can suit very occasional users who prefer a swap-and-go arrangement. For anyone using oxygen regularly, ownership costs less over a year.

▼ Does the oxygen cylinder ship full or empty?

It ships empty. Compressed oxygen cannot be transported by standard carriers under hazardous materials rules, so the cylinder arrives with its CGA540 valve installed and is filled at a local gas supplier.

▼ How should a large oxygen cylinder be stored?

Store it upright and secured against tipping, with the protective cap fitted when the regulator is removed, and keep oxygen cylinders separated from fuel gas cylinders such as acetylene. Storage areas should be well ventilated and clear of oil, grease, and ignition sources. Separation of oxygen and fuel gas in storage is a standard requirement, not a precaution.
